If you need a medical transport, but it is not an emergency case. You will need to request for a medical transport. You will need to get on the schedule with them, they usually require at least 2-3 days prior to the transport to have the proper scheduling with the other client. You will have a lesser chance to have a transport if you give them short notice. When you schedule for a non-emergency transport you may need to provide some information.
The medical transport provider will ask for your complete address, so they will know where to pick you up. You also need to give them the complete name of the health care facility that you need to visit. You will also need to give them the phone number. They will also give you a reference number for your transport. They will also ask for the date and time of your appointment. They will also ask the purpose of your visit.
“ Non-Emergency Medical Transportation or NET is available to persons on Medicaid. The service provides transportation services to and from medical appointments. The service is free of charge for those who are eligible.
All first time Medicaid eligible customers requesting NET service must have their eligibility verified with the Clermont County Department of Jobs and Family Services (DHFS). CTC contacts DJFS, but the verification process can take up to 24 hours. Customers may schedule a ride before CTC receives the verification, but customers may only travel within Clermont County and may have to pay for their ride. If a customer has been approved for services but does not use the service for several months, CTC is required to verify their Medicaid eligibility again before providing NET service. If a customer has Medicaid and moves from another county, they are required to switch the Medicaid registration with DJFS before CTC can provide any NET service.
Passengers can be picked up anywhere in Clermont County and taken to any medical destination in Clermont, Hamilton, or Brown County.
Riding CTC’s NET Service
- The bus may arrive 15 min before or after the scheduled pick up or drop off time
- The bus will wait 5 min at the pick-up location
- Passengers who have a service animal may bring it on the bus
- The driver may help passengers on and off the bus and may help them secure their wheel chair, but under no circumstances will a driver enter a passenger’s home
- Drivers cannot not sign clients out of medical facilities”

It is defined as transport of the patient without the urgency of the situation to the chosen health care facility. Most of the vehicles that are used for non- emergency transport are ambulance, wheelchair and other kind of transport vehicle depending on what the patient’s need. There are a lot of non-emergency providers that can give you their services. Just make sure that you coordinate with them properly and provide them the necessary information to have a smooth and fast scheduling of the patient’s transport. Remember that this transport is not for urgent or emergency transport so you may need to have a schedule in order that you can be transported to the health care facility that you will need to visit.
“When the Medicaid Program was established, the federal government recognized that unless needy individuals could actually get to and from providers of services, the principle of the Medicaid Progrm is inhibited at the start. As a result, States are required under federal regulation to assure necessary transportation for Medicaid beneficiaries to and from medical services. For the Medicaid population, getting to and from medical services can be a struggle. New York State made the decision to cover medical transportation for Medicaid beneficiaries traveling to Medicaid-covered services.
When traveling to medical appointments, a Medicaid beneficiary is expected to use the same mode of transportation as the beneficiary uses to carry out the activities of daily life. Generally, this mode is public transit or a personal vehicle. However, for some Medicaid beneficiaries, their medical condition necessitates another form of transport, such as an ambulette. In these circumstances, Medicaid will pay for the most medically appropriate and cost-effective level of transportation to and from services covered by the Medicaid Program. All non-emergency transportation must be authorized prior to payment; only emergency ambulance transportation can be reimbursed without a prior authorization.
All non-emergency Medicaid Transportation in counties managed by Medical Answering Services, LLC is subject to the Prior approval of Medical Answering Services, LLC on behalf of the New York State Department of Health and such approval must be obtained prior to incurring expenses.” Please read more at https://www.medanswering.com/page.taf?ID=10
